Cat, Interrupted

So, here’s the story…
Act I:
About 7 months ago I talked Matt into getting “a cat.” I guess you can say I am ready to start a family just not with humans. So, I looked around and found a wonderful pet organization.

There Matt and I found Macy (the grey one) and Lucy (the black one), two beautiful gals that needed a family. We called them ours and took them home. However, there were a few loose strings to tie up after the adoption. For instance, Macy was too small and young (less than 6 months) when we got her to be fixed so we were to wait a month or so, take her back, complete her vaccinations and have her fixed.
Well, as you all know (my two loyal “Matt and Jamie” blog readers), Matt and I have been super busy this summer gallivanting throughout the mid-west and South America. So, in essence Macy was lucky to have her vaccinations complete this summer.

Act II:
Enter two rambunctious and loving kitties.

Macy and Lucy quickly became close and got along very well. Matt and I even made the aloof assumption that we may have Georgia’s first homosexual cats. They were constantly licking one another and lying next to each other. I was just relieved that they didn’t fight too much.
Over the summer (between the Texas and Peru trips) I began to notice Lucy acting strangely and putting on quite a bit of weight. And yes, I know that we don’t have the smartest cats either. On more than one occasion I have caught them eating bits of string and paper and fabric. Yep. Brilliant.
As Lucy got bigger so did my worries that she had eaten something in the house that had caused a blockage in her intestines. I called the pet adoption agency and they said, “Take her to the vet.” Duh.
Now it’s two weeks later and we have one fat cat losing her appetite. I decide the Vet visit might be the smart decision. So, I rush home from a short work day, scoop up Lucy and we’re off to Dallas Highway Animal Clinic. Ten minutes later I am hit with the news that not only do we have a pregnant cat, but Macy is in fact a boy. Yea, let that news sink in right about…now.

Act III:
THEY’RE HERE! Five healthy squealing babies. Two black and three grey. Maybe a sixth on it’s way.

Awwww...look at the babies!

Now, only one thing left to do: GET THEM FIXED!

P.S. There are now six.
