Monday came bright and early...or at least earlier than Matt and I were ready for, and after being greeted with fresh snow and a warm breakfast we were off to venture up the Romantic Road "the most famous and well known tourist route." First stop was Schongau, a 13th Century settlement on the River Lech. Population: around 12,000. We walked the empty city streets (day after Christmas phenomenan), enjoyed the snow and managed to almost get kicked out of St. Mary of the Ascension cathedral...okay, had I known the pulpit was located on the side of the sanctuary I would have never have venture up into it. I learned that it is even harder to understand German when it is loud and angry.
