Fact: The park is 777,608 acres with 48 mountain elevations over 4000 feet high. Mount Washington at 6288' is the highest peak in the northeastern portion of the country. Just as distinctive as its height is the weather on Mt Washington. Claimed by some to have the worst weather in the world the highest wind velocities ever recorded were 231 mph in 1934.
